So here's the story... we took one of our former designs that incorporated a castle, representing "empire", strength, and security, which is what you want real estate to be.  We updated the logo to a more trendy look and incorporated a wave for a land vibe... our brokerage offers assistance to Buyers & Sellers of land and homes.  And, since our office is located in a former Gulf filling station, we chose the "Gulf Oil" orange & blue.
